The Educational Mission of
Twin Rivers Charter School
The Twin Rivers Charter School is committed to
providing a first-rate education and moral foundation that will support a
lifetime of excellence in the classroom, the home and society.
Twin Rivers
Charter School (TRCS), a
Core Knowledge
school, is a public education option for all parents and students in
California. TRCS begins its fifth year of operation with the 2008-2009 school
year. Twin Rivers prides itself as being a professional learning community where
students and staff develop strong learning skills and a broad base of knowledge
through the use of proven educational materials and programs, in a safe and
structured environment.
This is a school based on the
belief that families are their children's first and most important teacher, and
TRCS looks forward to working, learning and teaching with you.
Twin Rivers
welcomes Kindergarten through 8th grade students of all abilities,
socio-economic backgrounds, and ethnic groups. It would be our privilege to
talk with you about the school and whether it is the school of choice for your
student. Within this web site you will find information about our curriculum,
staff, and programs. As well, you will find resources to help parents and
students grow together.
The Educational Vision of
Twin Rivers Charter
School
The vision for a Twin Rivers Charter School is a
look into the characteristics of a graduating 8th grader. The staff is presently
working to complete the vision and will be submitting it to our parent community
for their input. The rough draft of our initial vision is as follows:
The TRCS Vision is for each student to achieve individual academic
excellence and to maximize personal growth in a community which
demonstrates and develops mutual respect and responsibility by being
committed to a focus on student achievement strategies that enable all
students to meet or exceed rigorous standards in preparation to graduate
from TRCS with a educational foundation for pursuing a pathway to
college.

Twin Rivers Charter
School also believes the following relative to
student behavior:
-
TRCS believes that all students are
capable of making intelligent, thoughtful choices regarding their behavior.
-
TRCS believes that consequences for
inappropriate behavior should be natural and logical and may vary depending on
the specific circumstance, student and situation.
-
TRCS believes all students must be held
responsible for their behavior but this does not mean that they always deserve
to be punished.
-
In general, the school will do its best to
accommodate student and parent requests on a variety of matters providing the
request does not create a problem for the teacher, the other students, the
front office staff or the administration.
-
The highest priority for Twin Rivers
Charter School is the safety, learning and support of ALL students, staff and
parents at Twin Rivers Charter School.
As a school, TRCS is guided by a variety of
educational goals and philosophies. Many of the school's "operating principles"
have been developed based on the work by Jim Faye and Foster Cline, entitled
"Love & Logic." For further information on this philosophy, please visit:
